Open letter to a racist …

Dear Ntsiki Mazwai

I am not ashamed of my pale skin. I was born and raised in Africa. I am an African. The biggest difference between me and you is that I do not judge people by the colour of their skin, where you are a RACIST!

You are a racist of the worst kind. You write racist propaganda and disseminate a message of hate and discrimination. I may have pale skin, but you have a lot more in common with Hitler than I ever could in a million years of reading your dribble.

Your letter would have the great Nelson Mandela turning in his grave, God rest his soul.

I do not condone apartheid, and abhor the concept with every fibre of my being. No one’s rights should be compromised by something as mundane as the colour of their skin, in which they have had no choosing. But you choose to be a racist. You have made a conscious decision to spread hatred and discrimination. People like you should be tried in an international human rights court and sentence to life in prison in a dark hole, because your only agenda is increase your own self-worth at the detriment to a nation. You are the person that criticises nation building while secretly stealing bricks from the people trying to build a monument to overcoming adversity, for the sole purpose of paving the drive to your own luxury home.

I believe that one of the global legacies of our great nation is the lessons that we have learnt from our past and how we have taught the world that it is possible to get along in spite of a long history of strife. That we could call ourselves a rainbow nation with pride and prove to the world that it is indeed possible for a nation of many cultures to not just get along but to prosper.

A mature person should be able to acknowledge that there is more than one culture, and because someone’s culture is not your own, does not mean that they are wrong. If anything our country’s history has taught us that we should embrace our diversity. Respect our differences and acknowledge that every person has the right to be whoever they want to be.

You are suffering from paranoid delusions and inflated self-importance, believing that people are referring to “braai day” specifically to torment you, instead of accepting the fact that there is a culture out there that might simply enjoy a good braai and celebrate their own heritage in what we believe is a truly South African way. You are the one infringing on people’s rights. No one is insisting that you should call our Heritage day anything but what you want to call it. You have the right to celebrate your heritage day in any way you choose. I can only suggest that you try and celebrate next year by accepting other people’s ideas, even though they might differ from your own, and not be threatened by them. You live in a nation that has struggled for everyone, without exception, to have these rights. You should exercise these rights in your way and be more tolerant, and maybe even a little bit proud, that you live in a country where different cultures could potentially get along while celebrating their differences and where people do not instigate bitterness and hatred towards their fellow countrymen.

YOU are what is most wrong with this country. YOU are the cancer that is dragging this country to its grave. YOU should be ashamed of this piece of racist propaganda that you have written and published for the world to see. I am disgusted that even people like you unfortunately have the right to call yourself South African, but I respect the fact that you have the freedoms and rights that you do, even though I do not share your opinions and that I think you are the worst kind of shit that has defaced the pride of our nation with your idiotic garbage. You should be in prison for hate speech!

I have hope that this country will continue to grow and set precedents for the world to follow with regard to cultural tolerance and peaceful coexistence and even prosperity, in spite of people like you!

Sincerely.

Mike Kay. Proud African!
